As of today, the Belarusian conscientious objector, Ivan Strashkevich, is still behind bars in the refugee camp in Pabradė.
This is how his case is proceeding.
The court made an inquiry to the State Security Department of Lithuania, they replied, and their arguments cannot stand up to any criticism.
As before, the State Security Department is claiming the Ivan represents a threat to the national security of Lithuania because he had served in the army and also because he has relatives in Belarus.
However, it means that every Belarusian represents a threat to the national security of Lithuania, because every Belarusian has relatives in Belarus. Since when have Belarusians become “dangerous”?
Poland has agreed to take Ivan back; therefore, he is going to be sent to Poland as soon as possible, and by airplane.
For now, it’s not clear what is going to happen with Ivan’s car and personal belongings: the Lithuanian migration service is obliged to transfer them to Poland, too, safe and sound. It is not known, if his property will be sent by plane as well or will it arrive later.
Some woman made an attempt to make Ivan sign a paper in which he agrees with the accusation that he imposes a threat to the national security of Lithuania and that he is not going to appeal that decision in the future. Ivan refused to sign the document.
We are not giving up on Ivan Strashkevich, a Belarusian conscientious objector, and continue to fight for him!
