Another tragedy happened in Ukraine in the morning of January 18, 2023. The crash of a helicopter in Brovary, Ukraine, killed everybody on board and several people on the ground. This event stands out of the dramatic events by the fact that the whole leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine were killed in it: Interior Minister Denys Monastyrskyi, his first deputy Yevhen Yenin, State Secretary of the MIA Yuri Lubkovych, their assistants and the helicopter crew.

Our information is confirmed. As for now, it is known about 18 dead, three children among them (the helicopter crashed on the territory of a kindergarten). 9 people were on board. 22 injured are in hospital, 10 children among them. The causes of the tragedy are being investigated.

The tragedy happened not far away from the front line, in the suburbs of Kyiv. However, it does not make it less horrible. It somehow shows, how tired and stressed-out people in Ukraine have become in the last 10 months of the severe war. All people are just equally exhausted: civilians, soldiers, the leadership of the country.

Ukrainians should be proud of their leadership: none of the real leaders have flinched, given up or escaped from the country after February 24, 2022.  Volodymyr Zelensky and his team stayed in Kyiv even when the battles were in the streets of the capital. It is one of the reasons why Ukraine is winning now, and winning over a stronger, more severe and vicious enemy.

I express my condolences to the relatives and friends of people killed in this catastrophe, to the colleagues of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to the whole Ukrainian nation. Yes, it is one of many tragedies of this war. And it is one of the many reasons why Ukraine should win. Among other reasons, to commemorate those who died today.
