Olga Karach appealed to the police with a request to conduct an investigation into the fake mass spamming with threats on her behalf, as the head of the human rights organization Our House, sent to the deputies of the Seimas of Lithuania

On April 4, 2023, the Seimas of Lithuania passed the law № XIV-1868 of the Republic of Lithuania about restrictive measures related to military aggression against Ukraine aimed at providing national security and ensuring foreign policy interests of the Republic of Lithuania.

On April 20, 2023, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania was supposed to vote and decide whether it would agree with the veto of the President Gitanas Nausėda who demanded to tighten the residence rules for Belarusians in Lithuania or would pass the law Nr. XIV-1868, nicknamed by the people as “Kasčiūnas’s law” (the Chairman of National Security and Defense Committee of Lithuanian Parliament) in the version the deputies voted for on April 4, 2023.

In the result, the deputies of the Seimas received a  mass spam mailing with threats on behalf of Olga Karach, and it is obvious that it had only one purpose: to worsen the situation of Belarusians in Lithuania, to quarrel Lithuanian politicians and the Belarusian diaspora and to discredit Belarusian organizations working with Belarusian refugees. Somebody definitely wanted to make an external impact on voting results and harm Belarusians in Lithuania.

Olga Karach named all persons who wrote about that situation as points of contact.

The police are already investigating the case, and we undertake to inform you on any updates.
