Our House provided 20 bags and 20 boxes of both adult and children’s clothing Ukrainian refugees who arrived in Vilnius at the end of November.
The continuation of Russian military aggression against Ukraine supports a constant flow of refugees. The number of fleeing Ukrainians is increasing also due to the deteriorating of the humanitarian situation. Massive and brutal shelling of civilians, destruction of life-support facilities during the onset of winter are forcing people to seek temporary residence outside the country.
Lithuania hosts a large number of Ukrainian refugees. Our House also helps to promptly provide them with comprehensive assistance. From the very beginning of the military invasion of Ukraine our organization has been supporting those who fled the war.
Thanks to the support of Our House’s partner, the German human rights organization IGFM, trucks with humanitarian cargo are delivered to Vilnius, where the aid are distributed among the refugees by our volunteers. Part of the humanitarian aid from Vilnius is sent to Krakow.
At the end of November, a group of Ukrainian refugees arrived in Vilnius from several Ukrainian cities, including Kremenchug, Sumy, Zaporozhye, Kyiv, Zhytomyr. An agreement was reached that they would work as trolleybus drivers and live in the hostel of the trolley park.
Humanitarian assistance from Our House will help them to establish their everyday lives. First of all, taking into account the cold season, people received warm both adult and children clothes. In the near future Our House will hand over footwear and utensil to these Ukrainian refugees too.
More refugees are expected to arrive soon, for whom the trolley park can provide employment. We will not leave people without our help either.
Our House wholeheartedly thanks the administration of UAB Vilniaus viesasis transportas for providing transport for the delivery of humanitarian aid from the office of Our House to the hostel.
